Triumph Foods in St. Joseph donates money for school district ELL program

Triumph Foods in Saint Joseph recently announced a one hundred thousand dollar pledge to the Saint Joseph School District.

Corporate Communications & Community Relations Manager at Triumph Foods, Chris Clark, says the contribution is primarily for the needs of their English Language Learner program.

"There's 850 kids in the district which English is not their native language and it's a pressure point for the school district - something we recognize.   We have a wide variety of cultures under our roof.  And I know that a lot of the children that are represented in the school of these non-native English speakers are children of our employees."

Clark also says that Triumph saw the opportunity to step up and support the St. Joseph school district after a bond failed to pass.

"We saw a need.  November 2017 there was a school bond levee that went to the public that just failed miserably.  At that time, we kind of saw an opportunity that really the business community of St. Joe needs to stand up and show support."

Clark says the contribution will be spread into four 25 thousand dollar increments over the next four years.
